SPEC Offers Inaugural High School Shadow Day

HIGH SCHOOL SHADOW DAY OFFERS STUDENTS INSIGHT ABOUT CAREERS IN ENGINEERING

In 2019, SPEC will offer their inaugural High School Shadow Day for students, grades 9-12, interested in careers in Engineering and Manufacturing. We invite students to join us on Monday, January 21, 2019 (Martin Luther King Jr. Day) from 9am-1pm at our office: 25523 W. Ruff Street, Plainfield, IL 60585. There is no cost to attend, but registration is required. Lunch will be provided.

With the growing need of STEM related jobs, SPEC wants to provide an opportunity to have students experience first-hand what it looks like to work in the industry. According to the National Association of Manufacturers, nearly 3.5 million manufacturing jobs will be needed in the next 10 years, but it will be likely that 2 million of those jobs will remain unfilled.

Main topics of the High School Shadow Day:

  • Overview of SPEC Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering Introduction
  • Electrical Engineering Introduction
  • Virtual Reality Demonstration
  • Interview an Engineer
  • Resume, Internship, and LinkedIn Learning

SPEC Engineering strives to give back to the local community. The goal of this program is to introduce students to the world of Engineering and Manufacturing and provide next steps for their career/college paths.
